MACON, Georgia – (41NBC/WMGT) – As another exciting week of high school football wraps up, the Macon Touchdown Club has announced its latest Players of the Week, recognizing standout performances from across the local gridiron scene.

Southwest quarterback Chase Dupree was named Back of the Week after a strong showing in the Patriots’ 35-21 loss to ACE. The senior went 13-of-27 for 160 yards and a touchdown through the air, while adding 80 rushing yards and another score on 10 carries.

ACE linebacker Huck Thompson earned Lineman of the Week honors. The junior defensive leader posted 14 tackles, including two for loss, along with an interception and a sack to help the Gryphons top Southwest.

Windsor Academy’s Santiago Medina was recognized as Special Teams Player of the Week for his all-around impact in the Knights’ 16-14 win over Central Fellowship Christian Academy. The senior kicker contributed a 27-yard field goal, a 19-yard gain on a fake punt, and two special teams tackles.

In addition to the weekly awards, the Touchdown Club celebrated the 50th anniversary of Central High’s 1975 Class 3A state championship team – the last Macon squad to capture a state football title. Members of that historic Chargers team were honored, with current Central head coach Jarrett Laws and Windsor head coach Dylan Bass in attendance.

The Georgia Sports Hall of Fame will further recognize the 1975 Central Chargers during a ceremony on December 13. More details are to come as we get closer to the event.
