MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Delegates from around the world will visit Macon Thursday for the sixth annual Global Trade and Investment Symposium.

The event is a reception and discussion centered on connections between the state and local economy. Macon attorney Christopher Smith serves as the Honorary Consul for the Kingdom of Denmark. Smith says leaders will share how global investment is helping Middle Georgia, and how to attract more foreign investment to the region.

“We will have diplomats from 11 countries there,” Smith said. “We will have attendees from over 20 counties in Georgia from all parts of the state. And the purpose of the event is to promote global trade and investment in Georgia. We would like to see more foreign direct investment in our region. We would like to increase Georgia exports as well.”

The event begins at 6 p.m. at Pierce Chapel on the campus of Wesleyan College.
