Macon suspects charged for trying to stop an arrest

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Two people are facing charges for obstructing a Bibb County sheriff’s deputy while he was trying to make an arrest Monday afternoon.

The incident happened around 3 p.m. outside of the Peyton Anderson Foundation center on Mulberry Street. According to Lt. Sean DeFoe, an on-duty drug investigator saw a man punch 24-year-old Raven Dumas in the face with his fist. DeFoe tells 41NBC, the deputy identified himself and tried to apprehend the unknown suspect, but then Dumas tried to stop him.

DeFoe adds 27-year-old Paul Anthony Hollins also physically grabbed the investigator and prevented him from arresting the suspect. The suspect got away.

Dumas and Hollins are both charged with willful obstruction of law enforcement officers, which is a felony charge. Both are booked in the Bibb County jail with a $1,850 bond.
