MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating multiple shootings across Macon over the past two days that left four people dead and several others injured.

Three men were killed in a shooting on Moseley Avenue. Another man died after a shooting on Florence Avenue. Deputies also responded to reported gunfire on Sharon Drive, North Atwood Drive, Holt Avenue, Bloomfield Drive, Dewey Street and Key Street.

On Monday, Mayor Lester Miller acknowledged Macon has seen an uptick in homicides to start the year.

“We’ve had 12 in the matter of two months,” he said. “It’s something that can be a bit overwhelming sometimes. We have to remind people not to panic, be very consistent to make sure we are all on the same page. We don’t need to be pointing blame at each other; there’s enough blame to go with everybody.”

Miller says he wants the city to return to where it was in 2022.

“We’ve had a 60% decrease since 2022, going down from 71 down to 29 to our lowest level in a decade,” he said.

Miller says the Macon Violence Prevention initiative and other organizations are doing all they can to stay involved in the community.

“We’re going to bring more people to the table,” he said. “A lot of community organizers have reached out, wanting to help and make sure we steer them to the proper place to help.”

Bibb County Sheriff David Davis released a statement calling the weekend’s incidents “shocking.”

“Sheriff’s office deputies and investigators are working relentlessly to bring justice to each victim,” Davis said. “Let me be clear — this violence in our community will not be tolerated. We are committed to identifying those responsible and holding them accountable. At the same time, real change requires all of us. I’m asking our citizens to stand together, support the families impacted, and share any information that can help us ensure safety and peace in Macon-Bibb County. We are strongest when we stand together.”
