Macon Rescue Mission Donates School Supplies to Four Local Schools
Get ready kids, school is about to start again in Bibb County! The Macon Rescue Mission collected more than $8,000 worth of school supplies, and handed out the goodies to four local elementary schools.
Pens, pencils, notebooks, and boxes full of other supplies for the classrooms were unloaded for the schools.
Macon Rescue Mission Executive Director Jeffrey Nicklas says, they wanted to help those most in need in the community, and the classroom is a great place to start.
“They (the schools) are in an area that the mean income for the area is probably real close to the poverty line,” Nicklas explains. “So we felt that as partners in the community, that we could best serve the community by providing the school supplies for those that might not necessarily have the extra money in these economic times to get their own.”
The four elementary schools to get the supplies were Union, Charles H. Bruce, Ingram-Pye, and St. Peter Claver.
