Macon Police Investigating Pedestrian Fatality on Gray Highway
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A woman is dead after a car struck her while she was walking down Gray Highway early Tuesday morning, according to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.
Jones tells 41NBC a 2006 Chrysler 300 hit 62-year-old Brenda Johnson between the Murphy’s gas station and Wal-Mart on Gray Highway. The man driving the car left the scene, but did come back and call police.
Jones says the area where Johnson was hit was dark and she was wearing dark clothing. This makes the second pedestrian fatality on Gray Highway in a week.
Police blocked portions of Gray Highway while the investigated the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
Jones asks if anyone knows Johnson or her relatives to call the Bibb County Coroner’s Office at (478) 621-6314.
Jones says this marks the 18th fatality in the City of Macon this year and the eight pedestrian fatality on a highway.
