Macon PD Hosts 5th Annual Community Christmas Luncheon

MACON, Georgia(41NBC/WMGT)-‘Tis the season of food and fellowship for deputies in Macon’s fourth police district. Today they treated Neighborhood Watch members and local business owners to a holiday meal with their annual Christmas Luncheon.

“What I normally do is go back and get a lot of outside people that have supported us within the community and invite them to sit down with us, have lunch and see that we are them…we’re just like them,” said Lieutenant Cornelius Pendelton who organized the event.

According to Pendelton, he couldn’t have thought of a better way to keep the flame between community members and law enforcement kindled than over a hot meal.

“I just wanted to get everybody together for one time of the year…that is the one time of the year that people get together and know the reason for the season,” he said.

This year’s luncheon marks the fifth year their department has hosted such an event. In addition to celebrating community members helping make a better, safer Macon, the lieutenant also honored one deputy he claims showed outstanding service through his work in the community.
