Macon organizations host domestic violence awareness forum
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Delta Sigma Theta sorority and Omega Psi Phi fraternity partnered with the Macon Housing Authority to host a domestic violence awareness forum.
Event coordinators said they want to inform and empower people.
They plan to do this through multiple speakers sharing their personal experiences with domestic violence.
“The number of people who are suffering from domestic violence continues to rise. What we’re trying to do is educate so the people in the community will know some of the signs of domestic violence, what they need to do, some of the resources, where they can go if they’re in need of help,” explained LaPrell Todd, the Social Action Committee Chairperson for the Macon Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
The forum will be Monday night at the Buck Melton Center from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. It is open to the public and free.
