Macon organization honors Rosa Parks with wreath laying ceremony
Rosa Parks would have been 111 years old on Sunday, February 4.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Leaders from across Macon-Bibb County gathered on Friday to honor the late Rosa Parks in a wreath laying ceremony just ahead of her birthday, which is on Sunday.
“Today is a special day,”Macon-Bibb Mayor Lester Miller said. Miller spoke about the legacy of the civil rights leader and how important Rosa Parks Square is for the county.
“She was a catalyst for major change,” the chair of the Friends of Rosa Parks Square Board, Andrea Cooke, said.
Cooke says there are ways everyone can continue to carry on Parks’ legacy. She says standing up for others, being an advocate and getting involved in the political process are all ways to carry on that legacy.
