Macon Non-Profit Hosting Fundraiser To Get Fresh Foods To More People
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Macon non-profit group, Community Health Works, is hosting a dinner fundraiser to help provide assistance for people to have more and easier access to local, healthy foods.
As part of Community Health Works’ mission, the group raises awareness on issues that plague our community when it comes to health and well-being.
The dinner fundraiser on Monday, April 8th, is part of the non-profit’s Mulberry Street Market, and will feature food exclusively grown and sold by local vendors of the market.
Chris Kiker with Community Health Works, said this fundraiser is all about helping more people have access to healthy food.
“You’re also helping people afford food that normally wouldn’t be able to buy fresh, local food. And essentially, the health of our community ties back to what we eat. And that’s what we’re trying to promote on Mulberry Street,” Kiker said.
The four-course meal is being prepared by Executive Chef of Dovetail and The Rookery, Doug Sanneman.
The dinner and fundraiser will take place at the Armory Ballroom in downtown Macon on April 8th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
