MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Jonathan McColumn, a Macon native born in October 1964, served 35 years in the U.S. Army and retired as a Brigadier General. Over the course of his military career, he lived and served in multiple countries, including Iraq, Kuwait, Japan, Germany, and South Korea. He also holds three master’s degrees in Strategic Studies, Business Administration, and Education.

During his official campaign announcement, McColumn said his run is centered on what he calls a return “back to the basics,” emphasizing faith, constitutional principles, and fiscal responsibility.

He identifies as a constitutional, compassionate conservative and says his top concerns include inflation, the national debt, border security, military strength, and what he describes as government overreach.

McColumn is openly pro-life and says his Christian faith guides his policy positions. He supports securing the U.S. border while allowing legal immigration, opposes Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives in favor of merit-based systems, and rejects what he calls “man-made global warming” as the nation’s top existential threat.

He also advocates for stronger support for veterans, increased missions at Georgia’s nine military installations, energy independence, and expanded school choice options.

McColumn is challenging incumbent Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff. The race is expected to draw significant statewide and national attention as both parties compete for control of the U.S. Senate.

His official campaign announcement event is scheduled for February 16 in Warner Robins.
