Macon NAACP Supports Murder Victim, Pushes Opportunity Summit

Tuesday afternoon NAACP president David Booker offered condolences to the family of Gary Bennett Cole Junior, who was murdered at Family Dollar on Houston Ave. last Tuesday.

The 38-year-old was the assistant manager of the Bibb county store, and died from a gunshot wound that happened during a robbery.

Booker says the blame of pointless murders falls in the hands of society, and real change is needed for the betterment of Macon and Middle Georgia.

“Three components peace, prosperity and justice without those you cannot have social order,” said Booker.

The Macon NAACP will host an opportunity summit on Saturday, April 23rd and invites community members, leaders and churches to join them in talking about how to cut down crime and poverty in the city. The summit will be at the BuckMeltonCommunity Center from 9 a.m. until noon.
