MACON, Georgia – (41NBC/WMGT) – Add another big change to the list for the Macon Mayhem this off season. As interim Head Coach Caleb Cameron announced on Facebook he will be leaving the Macon Mayhem organization after seven years.

“It is with a heavy heart that I announce I will be leaving the Macon Mayhem organization after 7 amazing years,” Cameron said in the post. Just know that was not an easy decision.”

“Coach Cam” began his tenure with the Mayhem in 2017 as a player for a few years before entering the coaching world. He was made interim Head Coach after new Owner and CEO Chuck Norris fired old Head Coach Nick Niedert.

He thanked his wife and kids for being “by my side every step of the way”, and made the decision for them. He closed stating that he is a Mayhem fan for life. His jersey is in the rafters of the Macon Coliseum.

“When I came to Macon in 2017, I didn’t know what I was getting myself into,” Cameron said. “I was in a new city playing professional hockey and just looking to move up to the next level as quickly as possible. I surely did not expect to still be here 7 years later, but I am so happy and thankful that I am.”

The Macon Mayhem finished the 2023-24 season with a 15-34 record and ninth place in the SPHL. The Mayhem were one of two teams to not make the playoffs this past season.

“I have had an amazing time being not only a player for you, but a coach, a community partner, and a friend,” Cameron said. “Know that I am not far and will always support this team as much as possible. I will see you in October as the biggest Mayhem fan there is” said Cameron.
