MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Macon Mayhem hit the ice Wednesday morning for one of their final training camp practices before the start of the 2025-26 Southern Professional Hockey League season.

Players spent the morning skating drills, testing line combinations and fine-tuning strategy inside the Macon Coliseum. Forward Alex Cohen, who returns for his third season with the Mayhem, says the team is focused on building chemistry both on and off the ice.

“It’s definitely tough, given the short period of time, but a lot of the guys get to know each other off the ice and in the locker room, just around town going out eating together and stuff and it translates on the ice pretty well,” Cohen said.

Head Coach Dave Pszenyczny says he’s encouraged by what he’s seen so far in camp.

“The free agents that we brought in addressed what we were missing last season have really stepped up,” Pszenyczny said. “I’m really impressed with our second-year guys coming back after a good offseason. Looks like they made their improvements.”

Pszenyczny says fans can expect an exciting season of hockey in Macon.

“Hockey season is here, we’re excited to be back here and I know the fellas are ready to perform for everyone,” he said. “So get down here and come support us when we get our home games.”

The Mayhem open the season on the road this Saturday, October 18, against the Pensacola Ice Flyers. The team’s home opener is scheduled for Saturday, October 25, against the Huntsville Havoc. Get your tickets here.
