Macon man starts bar age limit proposal petition
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Macon man is starting a petition. He says anyone under 21-years-old should not be allowed to go in or be outside downtown bars.
Bobby Lee Barfield spent Wednesday afternoon collecting dozens of signatures at the Macon-Bibb County Board of Elections Office. He says this is an opportunity for those who may not attend commission meetings to voice their opinions about this proposal.
“Kids don’t need to be going into bars. if you got teenagers going into bars and you got alcohol and you got drugs on the streets and a few bad apples, you got a problem, bad problem,” Barfield said.
Barfield is turning his petition into the commissioners Thursday at noon.
At Tuesday night’s commissioner’s meeting, board members did not vote on the bar age limit proposal. It was sent back to committee. The board is expected to vote on it at next week’s meeting.
