Macon man shot outside “shot house”
The shooting happened around 5 a.m., in the 2800 block of Mercer University Drive near the intersection of Grosso Avenue. The home was being used as a “shot house,” according to Lt. Sean DeFoe.
“The house was being used for illegal activity, for example selling alcohol,” said DeFoe.
“As several people were leaving the house, two men shot in the direction of the house from an abandoned Church parking lot, on Grosso Avenue,” he explained.
26-year-old Quaterris Thomas of Macon was walking in front of the house when he was struck in the back by one of the bullets, Defoe added.
Thomas was transported to Medical Center, Navicent Health by ambulance and is listed in stable condition.
No one else was injured during this incident.
“Investigators and Crime Scene Investigators are continuing to speak with possible witnesses and are also processing evidence from the scene in an effort to identify those involved in this incident.” Defoe continued. “They are also working to determine who owns the the home.”
