Macon man sentenced after carjacking, jailhouse stabbing

Bonner’s criminal history in the Macon Judicial Circuit dates back to a guilty plea on April 26, 2023, for aggravated assault tied to a December 2020 incident.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A man was sentenced to prison after a violent carjacking and a jailhouse stabbing, according to the Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.

Christopher Dewayne Bonner was ordered March 25, 2026, to serve time in the Georgia Department of Corrections through April 24, 2041, after a judge granted prosecutors’ request to revoke his probation.

Bonner’s criminal history in the Macon Judicial Circuit dates back to a guilty plea on April 26, 2023, for aggravated assault tied to a December 2020 incident. He was sentenced to 20 years, with the first two years to be served in prison followed by probation.

Authorities said Bonner violated that probation in August 2024 during a carjacking on Anthony Road in Macon. Investigators said a victim was sitting in his car when Bonner approached with a firearm, threatened to kill him and forced him out of the vehicle before fleeing in it.

Police pursued the stolen vehicle until it crashed, officials said. Bonner then attempted to flee on foot but was quickly taken into custody. Officers recovered a firearm, a ski mask and the victim’s belongings from the crash scene.

Bonner has remained in custody at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center since that arrest.

Prosecutors said Bonner continued to engage in violent behavior while jailed. On December 9, 2024, he and others took commissary items from another inmate. When confronted, Bonner used a makeshift weapon to stab the inmate at least six times. The assault was captured on surveillance video.

District Attorney Anita Howard released the following statement:

“Actions like these demonstrate exactly why our office pursues probation revocations with the same vigor as the underlying charges. The people of Macon deserve to be safe in their cars, in their homes, and even in our county jail.”
