Macon Man Dies In Crash In Monroe County

A Macon man is dead after a car accident in Monroe County.  The Sheriff’s Office reports the accident happened on Highway 74 near mile-post 12 just before 5pm Thursday.

20-year-old Kaitlyn Smith says she was in the car with her husband, 35-year-old Charles Smith, and he was in some sort of medical distress.  This caused him to drive erratically and hit a tractor trailer head on.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and she was taken to the Medical Center for treatment.
