Macon man beaten, robbed while looking at car

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a personal armed robbery that happened in North Macon Tuesday night.

Deputies responded to the intersection of Short Street and Brigham Street around 11:45 p.m. The 35-year-old victim told investigators he was meeting with another man, according to a news release. The victim said he knew the man through a friend.

Deputies said the victim was meeting the man at a home on Davis Street to look at a car the victim was interested in buying. The victim told deputies as the two men walked toward the car, two other men tried to rob them. The victim said the two suspects hit him in the head with a gun and took money, his wallet and a cellphone. The suspects ran away, but the wallet was found at the scene.

The victim was taken to the hospital and later discharged.
