WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- A man was arrested and faces multiple charges after fleeing from police after a failed traffic stop.  According to a press release from  the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop around 6:53 p.m. on Wednesday February 18, on a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox for a canceled registration. The stop was initiated on Highway 247 near Russell Parkway.

Authorities say the driver, identified as 39-year-old Eric York of Macon, refused to stop, leading deputies on a pursuit that continued along Highway 247 into Bonaire. During the chase, York reportedly turned onto Georgia Highway 96 and traveled the wrong way before continuing onto Mt. Zion Road and Willingham Drive, heading back toward Moody Road.

Deputies deployed stop sticks, but York continued to flee. As the pursuit approached Moody Road and crossed onto Robert Bryson Parkway, a deputy performed a PIT maneuver, causing  the vehicle to flip onto its right side.

York was taken into custody without further incident. He was found uninjured and transported to the Houston County Detention Center.

York faces multiple charges, including fleeing or attempting to elude, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, operating a vehicle with canceled registration, no insurance, driving while suspended, reckless driving, a stop sign violation and speeding.

He remains in custody at the Houston County Detention Center.
