Macon magnet school earns National Blue Ribbon award
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Alexander II Magnet School in Macon is a National Blue Ribbon School.
The U.S. Department of Education announced 331 schools received the award Tuesday morning. To be considered for the award a school must have a great relationship with the community and parents. The students must also meet high learning standards.
The school’s principal Bertha Caldwell said they didn’t win this award on their own.
“We want them to know that what we accomplish is through an effort of both of us. The school, the parents and the community working together. It is not one group that will get us to stay where we are,” said Caldwell.
The school won its first National Blue Ribbon Award in 2006.
