Macon Love Back In Action
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The first game of the season for the only official rugby team in Macon kicked off this weekend.
According to usarugby.org, Macon Love won 43-5 against the Gwinnett Rugby International Touring Side (G.R.I.T.S.) on Saturday.
The all-male team, their families and fans gathered at Central City Park to begin the fall season.
Macon Love player Toni Arnold says the 23 players come from all over Georgia to play.
“Rugby is the ultimate team sport,” Arnold says, “It brings a lot of guys together that may not hang out normally, and we all have that one common bond. We beat each other for 80 minutes, and then we go hang out afterwards. We leave everything on the field; we don’t take it with us.”
The team has four more fall games left, and five for the spring 2014 season.
Arnold says the team accepts players all season long. If you are interested in signing up, visit the Macon Love Facebook page for more information.
Macon Love began in 1999.
