Macon Liquor Store Recruits Parakeet for Sales

74 Package Store in Macon has a unique member on its staff team. Kay Kay is a nine year old Blue Indian Ringneck parakeet, and he’s part of the family and staff serving customers.

The owners of the liquor store, Cindy and Carl, have kept Kay Kay behind the counter for more than eight years. Kay Kay is a self-proclaimed ‘ladies-man’, whistling and squawking whenever women come into the store.

“If there’s a girl in here, he’ll whistle at them to get their attention…He loves being up here (behind the counter). He loves people,” Cindy explains.

Kay Kay has helped to create a list of repeat customers to the Thomaston Road liquor store. If you’re ever in the area, stop in and say hi to Kay Kay. Just be careful if you’re a female.
