Macon Kwanzaa Group Celebrates With Community Clean-Up Day

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Every year, Christmas seems to take over the month of December, but there’s also another celebration before the New Year that anyone can be apart of regardless of religion.

Member of the Kwanzaa Cultural Access Center, George Muhammad stopped by 41NBC to talk about the celebration and an event that the entire community can get involved with.

Muhammad says Kwanzaa is an observance of 7 key principles that improve the quality of life for all people. The principles are unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith.

On Friday, December 28th from 10-12pm, the group will celebrate the principle of collective work and responsibility also known as Ujima. KCAC has partnered with Helping Hands to clean up the Unionville neighborhood.

For more information on how you can volunteer, call Muhammad at (478) 718-8067.
