Macon Fashion Week launches this fall
Fashion is stepping into the spotlight in Middle Georgia this fall.
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The inaugural Macon Fashion Week is set for Nov. 2-8, bringing together designers, students, and cultural voices.
The week will feature runway shows, panel discussions, workshops, and pop-up events across the city. Organizers say the goal is to celebrate creativity and highlight sustainable fashion practices.
Before the main event, the public is invited to the MFW Launch + Designer Presentation on Saturday, Sept. 13, at 6 p.m. at Wesleyan College Leadership Lab, located at 522 Cherry Street. The launch will give people a preview of the designers, programs, and styles that will be part of Macon Fashion Week.
Designer Monique Pitts-Taylor, who grew up in Macon, says she is excited to showcase her work.
“I definitely will have some pieces in fashion week,” Pitts-Taylor said. “I’m born and raised in Macon. I lived in Atlanta and pursued a degree at Clark Atlanta. I received 2 bachelor’s degrees, one in fashion and one in business and during my time at Clark Atlanta, I also studied abroad, so I got a chance to study fashion in London and Paris and just something that I really loved and enjoyed.”
Macon Fashion Week will highlight local boutiques, student creators, and Muscogee (Creek) Indigenous designers. Organizers say it’s a chance to showcase Macon’s creative spirit in bold and unexpected ways.
