Macon doctor shares safety tips for Halloween
Medical Director for Atrium Health Levine Children’s Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital, Dr. Edward Clark, says people need to have a safe suit, route, and loot.
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – As people prepare for trick-or-treating on Halloween, one Macon doctor is offering safety tips to keep people safe.
Medical Director for Atrium Health Levine Children’s Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital, Dr. Edward Clark, says people need to have a safe suit, route, and loot.
Dr. Clark says children need to be able to see out of their costumes and use caution with masks or face makeup.
“If you’re wearing makeup, make sure it doesn’t get in the eyes,” says Dr. Clark. “It can cause red eyes, conjunctivitis, things like that.”
Dr. Clark also encourages trick-or-treaters to have a route identified for Halloween. He says to choose a safe neighborhood, use sidewalks, and be aware of cars.
“Kids need to have appropriate candy,” says Dr. Clark. “If you’ve got small children, you want to make sure they’re not choking on anything.”
Dr. Clark advises parents to make sure candy is in the correct packaging and not tampered with.
Dr. Clark adds “You want to have a great suit, you want to have a great route, and you want to have a great loot at the end of the day.”
