Macon dads promise to stay active in children’s lives

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Miller Magnet Middle School dads promised to stay active in their children’s lives.

Fathers packed the gym to celebrate the “Million Father March” on Tuesday. It’s a day for men to make a commitment to their families and community to be present at schools. Jaison Dixon has six daughter. Three of them go to Miller Magnet. He took the time off from work to be there for his little girls.

“I feel as though all fathers should make the best effort they can to be involved in a child’s life because it helps shape and form them. I had my step father in my life and I think if I had not had him, I would not be where I am today,” said Dixon.

The organization that sponsors the event estimates more than 11 million men across the nation participated this year.
