Macon County Falls One Game Short of the State Championship

The Macon County Lady Bulldogs lost to the Washington-Wilkes Lady Tigers 66-55 in the GHSA Semifinal Round to end their season

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia – (41NBC/WMGT) – On Friday evening at Georgia College and State’s Centennial Center, the 22-4 Macon County Lady Bulldogs were defeated by the 14-8 Washington-Wilkes Lady Tigers 66-55 in the GHSA Class A Division-Two Final Four to end their season.

After the game, Head Coach of the Lady Bulldogs, Jimmy Daniels, spoke to 41NBC’s Justin Dierkes about how proud he is of his Lady Dawgs squad. “Very proud. Like I told them, I said it’s okay to hurt” Daniels told me outside the locker room. “We had a great season and I’m still proud of them no matter what the outcome was. We had too many turnovers, missed free throws, and I think we just got out hustled a little bit tonight. I told them hold their heads up. 24-hour rule. Let it hurt and we will be back next year.

Coach Daniels went onto speak about the Final Four Banner they will have raised in the Macon County High School Gymnasium. “I’m just going to look up at that banner, and it is going to remind me of the way I feel now, and remind them of the way they feel now, and we will be back.”
