Macon Councilman Running for Seat on Consolidated Government

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Macon City Councilman announces he’ll run for a position in the newly consolidated government.

Surrounded by supporters Thursday morning in downtown Macon, Rabbi Larry Schlesinger revealed he plans to run for the District 2 seat on the new commission.

He says the job of the new government is to represent the will of the families and businesses in Macon and Bibb County–not just one person or one political agenda.

“We have some rough waters ahead, no doubt,” says Schlesinger.  “I maintain that a steady hand on the rudder–your hands and my hands together–is going to get us through all of this.”

The nine seats on the consolidated government will be up for grabs in November.

The winners are set to take office in January.
