Macon church to host free fall festival and coat drive October 24

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church is inviting families to its annual fall festival and coat drive Saturday, October 24, offering free food, entertainment and clothing to community members.
The event will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. at the church on Antioch Road in Macon.
Pastor Thomas Russell joined 41 Today to discuss the event and the church’s efforts to give back to families in need.
Russell said the annual festival is an opportunity to bring the community together while providing resources to families who may be struggling financially.
The church will distribute gently used coats, jackets and socks to children and families while supplies last.
Russell said the coat drive is especially important for students who may not have adequate clothing during colder weather.
The church is also accepting additional donations of coats, jackets and other clothing items to help meet community needs. Russell said donations that are not distributed this year can be saved for future events.
Along with the clothing giveaway, families can enjoy bounce houses, face painting, snow cones and visits from local firefighters and police officers.
Free food, including hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks, will also be available.
Russell emphasized that all activities and resources are free and encouraged families to attend regardless of their financial circumstances.
The event is supported by several community partners, including Russell Tires, King Priest Charitable Foundation, Bruce Elementary School, Macon Rescue Mission of Middle Georgia, Smith Street Baptist Church and St. Peter’s Baptist Church.
Russell said the festival reflects the church’s commitment to strengthening relationships among families, schools, businesses and community organizations.
He also hopes the event encourages residents to connect with their neighbors while giving children an opportunity to enjoy activities in a welcoming environment.
The annual fall festival and coat drive will take place Saturday, October 24, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church on Antioch Road in Macon.
The event is free and open to the community.
