Macon church sponsoring annual project to repair local homes

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Forest Hills United Methodist Church is hosting its 13th annual ‘River of Life’ mission project this weekend.

Participants will work on repairing homes for the less fortunate and the elderly. Some of the work includes painting, roofing, and carpentry. This year’s projects include one roofing job, building a wheelchair ramp, several repairs, and more than 20 paint jobs in Macon-Bibb County.

The homes getting repaired were selected through a partnership with Rebuilding Macon.

“River of Life gives us the opportunity to be the hands and feet, to get out and serve people, to show that love of community, the love of your neighbor, to help those who needs the help the most,” says Bobby Totten, one of the crew leaders of River of Life.

About 210 adults and students will be in the Macon neighborhoods Thursday through Sunday helping repair homes.
