Macon Charter Academy announces interim positions
The appointments are as follows:
- Board Chairman – Edward Grant
- Board Vice Chairman, Treasurer – Joseph Brothers
- Board Secretary – Daisy Ross
These terms will not exceed 90 days, according to Joseph Brothers, because board members plan to appoint new people to the board. New board members may drive officer nominations in a different direction.

Macon Charter Academy’s Assistant Principal, Tahisha Edwards, is now serving as the school’s Interim Principal. Dr. Ron Boykins announced his resignation as Principal last month. Brothers said Dr. Boykins is helping Edwards during the transition period. You can read more about Edwards’ background here.
MCA said it’s pleased with Renaissance School Services’ work. The turnaround firm was hired to help get the school off probation. RSS has named a transitional leadership team comprised of the following people:
- Tahisha Edwards – Head of School (Interim Principal)
- Patrice Thurman – IB Coordinator/Achievement Specialist
- Janette Walker – Operations Specialist
Brothers said all appointees were former MCA employees functioning in similar capacities. He explained moving forward, the school leadership team and the governing board will be concentrating on enhancing the education process of the students, fostering parental engagement and implementing standard/repeatable operating procedures to govern the business of MCA.
MCA will have a parent meeting on January 7 and January 11 from 5-7 p.m. Brothers said the staff will be talking about RSS, academics, behavior, discipline and parental engagement. Both meetings will take place in the auditorium. The next regularly scheduled board meeting is January 19 at 6 p.m.
