Macon celebrates Earth Day at Tattnall Square Park
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Residents of Bibb County and all around Middle Georgia gathered Wednesday for Macon’s 6th Annual Earth Day celebration at Macon’s Tattnall Square Park.
The festivity is designed to bring local growers, vendors, and exhibitors together for a day to show off their goods, as well as to bring awareness to environmental concerns.
“This is a city-wide celebration,” said Lacey Templeton, the Mulberry Market Manager. “We not only have our farmer’s market today, but about 30 exhibitors that are here to talk about conservation and recycling.”
This year, organizers teamed up with the Macon-Ocmulgee National Monument as part of National Park Week and gave away 1,000 native hardwood trees to the general public.
National Park Week began on April 18th, and runs until April 22nd.
