MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Twenty-five restaurants across the city are serving up their best burger creations for Macon Burger Week, a nine-day event celebrating the art of the beef burger.

Presented by the Georgia Beef Board and Visit Macon, the event runs through Nov. 15 and invites locals and visitors to try as many burgers as they can for a chance to win prizes.

“The restaurants are really creative this year given the combinations of things that they put on the burgers,” said Carly King, marketing manager for Visit Macon. “Great buns, I’ve tried a couple myself, they’re off to a good start this year.”

Each restaurant’s burger costs $12 and must feature beef as the main ingredient. Diners can download a digital “Burger Week Passport” or pick one up at the Downtown Macon Welcome Center to track their visits.

“You can open it up, there’s all 25 restaurants in it, get them all stamped when you check in at the place that you are eating a burger at,” King said.

At Sonny’s BBQ, owner and pitmaster Brad Fink said his restaurant’s special burger combines all of their signature barbecue flavors.

“We start with our regular burger which is an 8-ounce certified angus beef burger,” Fink said. “Then we added some smoked jalapeño cheddar sausage, pulled pork, cheddar cheese, bacon, onion straws, and our competition sauce.”

Participants who collect five stamps can earn a Burger Week T-shirt, while those with 10 or more qualify for prizes like grilling tool sets or a Weber charcoal grill.

Macon Burger Week runs through Saturday, November 15. A full list of participating restaurants is available at visitmacon.org.
