Macon Burger Week 2023: Tommy’s Bakery ‘Tommy’s Scrambled Burger’

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) —Day three of Macon Burger Week has 41NBC’s Drake Rozelle leaving downtown for Tommy’s Bakery and Café on Thomaston Road.
Tommy’s isn’t a stranger to food-related competitions in Macon. The restaurant has participated in every Burger Week since the event’s creation and also competed in the Macon dessert competition earlier this year. For their entry this year, Tommy’s is offering the “Tommy’s Scrambled Burger.” It’s a loose beef patty topped with bacon jam and cheese sauce served on a donut.
“It’s got a lot of different flavors,” owner Tommy Sadler said. “I mean it really has, it’s got the donut, the sweet of the donut. I seasoned the ground beef really good with some different seasonings, and then you get that cheese, which don’t sound like it would be that good, but so far everyone that’s had it has just raved about how good it is.”
Drake admits he was a tad skeptical of the cheese sauce on top of a donut, but he turned out surprised at how good the dish was.
“The way all the flavors mixed together and kind of boosted each other was quite surprising considering you’ve got a mix of like savory, and sweet and a little salty,” Rozelle said. “So that was excellent.”
If you’re looking for an entry that’s prepared quickly and also makes for a very hearty breakfast dish, Drake highly recommends making the drive to Tommy’s Bakery and Café to try their entry.
