MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Library Taphouse & Kitchen, located on Mercer University Drive, is showcasing its “Three Little Pigs” burger for Macon Burger Week.

The Library, the 2022 Macon Burger Week winner with its “Bearenstain Bear” entry, is offering a pork lover’s dream this year. The 2023 entry features a beef brisket short rib patty topped with smoked pork belly, American cheese, fried pickle spears, and the standout element, crispy chicken fried bacon. The burger also includes housemade Jack Daniels bacon jam, and it’s all served on a perfectly toasted bun.

“A lot of people haven’t seen that (chicken fried bacon) before, but being from South Georgia you could just go into a gas station on a Monday and you can just get it with your breakfast, so it was just something we thought we could try,” kitchen manager Lorenzo Johnson said.

Our Drake Rozelle tried the creation, and he says it didn’t disappoint.

“Really salty, you can taste the pork, it compliments the burger very well,” he said. “That bacon, oh my gosh, really sticks out. Again, fried to perfection, really salty the way I like it.”

The Library Taphouse & Kitchen is located just behind Amici’s on Mercer University Drive and across the highway from Mercer University.
