MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Several local voters may be part of new districts for this year’s elections.

As part of the census, district lines in Macon-Bibb have been redrawn. This process happens every 10 years, and this year, the lines have been shifted to ensure all districts have an equal number of voters and that demographics are fairly divided.

Thomas Gillon, Macon-Bibb Elections Supervisor, tells 41NBC May is an essential month when it comes to knowing about these district lines.

“When we vote for the county commission, school board, mayor, sheriff, and all that, that’s when the district lines become more important,” he said.

The changes are effective immediately.
