Macon-Bibb retirees honored for years of service

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Retirees with the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department were honored Friday morning for their years of service. 

Community leaders took time to thank them for their years with the department. 

Former fire prevention director Larry Smallwood spent 44 years on the job. Even though he’s retired, Smallwood says he’s still helping others. 

“I still do training for fire marshal office on daycare workers and care givers and CPR training,” Smallwood said. 

More than 50 employees from the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department were recognized for their service.
