Macon-Bibb residents are getting into the swing of recycling

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Since beginning a recycling program in January the Macon-Bibb County Solid Waste Department has delivered more than 6,000 recycling carts to residents.

Kevin Barkley is the Director of the Macon-Bibb County Solid Waste Department, he said, “The residents of Bibb County have made this a success by starting in January, there was a 2 .4 percent  diversion of our solid waste going to a landfill. Now we have increase that to 10 percent, actually over 10 percent as of September of this year.”

The department has 3,000 recycling carts ready for people who want them.

It is very simple and easy you mix all your plastic paper aluminum metal cans into one container and bring it to the curb for our collection

Macon-Bibb residents are recycling paper, aluminum, metal cans and plastic. No glass.

If you want a recycling cart just contact the solid waste department by phone or go to the county’s website and use “see, click, fix.”
