Macon-Bibb Pedestrian Fatality Review Board to make recommendations to Commission

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Tuesday morning’s accident on Gray Highway in Macon is motivating Macon-Bibb’s Pedestrian Fatality Review Board to do more.

Board members decided to give a list of recommendations to Macon-Bibb’s Public Safety Committee. It will outline what suggestions the board has to reduce the number of people killed by cars. One of the campaign ideas is called “Cross the Walk.” Board member Violet Poe presented the idea at Tuesday’s meeting. It includes school education programs, cross walk art projects and two pedestrian mascots.

“The cross walk is a very important traffic control device which we need our pedestrians to follow. Getting to them to focus on using the cross walk and the [understand the] importance of the cross walk,” explained Poe.

The board will meet next Tuesday to put the list of recommendations together then present them at the committee’s meeting the same day.
