Macon-Bibb Mayoral Candidates Positive Heading Into Runoffs

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Both Macon-Bibb mayoral candidates are positive heading into runoff elections on Tuesday.

Reichert says he’s happy about voter turnout thus far, and is looking for more community support heading into Election Day.

41NBC caught up with mayor during a news conference for the third round of Macon’s 5×5 program.

Reichert says the time between the election last month and now, has been crucial, and says the numbers from early voting show the community is involved with the big changes happening in the area.

“We decided to use this campaign, this four week runoff campaign, as an effort to try to continue to take the high road, pull the community together, and help build this idea and understanding that unless we all work together, we’re not going to be able to address the problems that confront us as a community, the big problems,” Reichert said.

Reichert hopes tomorrow’s elections will be the first day for the future of Macon-Bibb County, and that voters will work with him to move the community forward.

His opponent C. Jack Ellis hit the streets today, urging citizens to let their voices be heard, by casting a ballot.

Ellis visited several locations across Bibb County, taking names of people who need rides to their precincts

41 NBC caught up with Ellis in downtown Macon, where he told us he expects a great turn out tomorrow.

“We’re not leaving a stone unturned. We’re talking to people, we’re knocking on doors, we’re encouraging people, exciting people to vote, because this is an exciting election. This is an important election, and everyone has to understand that ever vote counts-each and every vote counts. Whether you’re a billionaire, whether you’re homeless, or penny less-the vote is the same,” Ellis said.

If you need a ride to the polls, Ellis says you can call his campaign headquarters at 741-0014.
