MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon-Bibb Mayor Lester Miller met with faith leaders Thursday for the first Council of Clergy luncheon of the year.

The event focused on unity and partnership and provided updates on what’s happening across the county.

During the luncheon, Mayor Miller highlighted several accomplishments, including reducing the county’s millage rate by more than 50 percent since 2021, removing nearly 900 blighted structures from neighborhoods and sharing that the Brookdale Resource Center has served nearly 5,000 people.

Dwana Williams with The Freedom Collective explained why the event is so meaningful.

“The Freedom Collective is a faith-based anti-sex trafficking organization,” Williams said. “It’s really just a wonderful time to network with other people of faith.”

The Council of the Mayor’s Clergy is centered on building a better community by fostering healthy racial relations and strengthening partnerships between faith leaders and local government.
