Macon-Bibb Mayor, Georgia leaders celebrate literacy on Georgia Reads Day

There was a Reading Rally with more than 300 students to bring awareness of the need to improve Georgia’s childhood and adult literacy rates on September 30.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon-Bibb Mayor, Lester Miller, and other Georgia leaders gathered on Monday for Georgia Reads Day.

There was a Reading Rally with more than 300 students to bring awareness of the need to improve Georgia’s childhood and adult literacy rates on September 30.

Malcolm Mitchell, Super Bowl Champion and UGA receiver, is a coach for Georgia Reads and lead the Reading Rally.

Governor Brian Kemp and other elected officials from across the state were in attendance.

Mitchell says Georgia Reads is aimed at raising awareness about the need to improve reading skills in all age groups.

Macon-Bibb Mayor, Lester Miller, says he aims to improve literacy for everyone in the county.
