Macon-Bibb Leaders Unveil New Ad Branding the New Consolidated Government

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – With consolidation less than a year away, Macon and Bibb County leaders are putting the community’s best foot forward with a new advertisement to brand the new government.

“The community’s decision to consolidate our local governments sends a clear message,” Robert Hatcher, chairman of the Macon Economic Development Commission, said.

The message is one voice in unity. To show off that voice, Macon-Bibb County leaders worked together to come up with an ad to show off the new image. The ad highlights five key elements that Macon-Bibb County has to offer.

“The new Macon-Bibb County is going to be the place you need to come because its going to be a premiere community in Georgia,” Macon Mayor Robert Reichert said.

Innovation, collaboration, transportation, transformation, and location are the key elements leaders say will attract people, businesses, and industry to the area.

“We strongly believe we help create a location that is desirable, a location that is an even better destination,” Monica Smith, CEO of the Macon Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, said.

A destination that will appeal to the masses. Reichert says the county is in a prime location in Middle Georgia for transpiration.

“Whether you want to move goods or people by rail, by air, or on the highway system, Macon-Bibb county is the place you need to be looking,” Reichert said.

The Bibb County Board of Education says the new government will also help schools prepare students for the future.

“You’re going to find the types of students that you used to have from the days of old,” Edward Judie, Deputy Superintendent of Student Affairs, said. “That student that is highly skilled, that student that is marketable.”

Bibb County Chairman Sam Hart says we can’t just focus on our own community, but instead we must work with the region.

“We must not only look inside our community. We must look outside our community to continue to look for ways to collaborate and to make sure we are able to bring the appropriate resources to be an attractive area for our community to grow,” Hart said.

These leaders hope to spread the message that Macon-Bibb County is the place to be.

The new ad will appear in the March issue of Georgia Trend magazine. It is a publication that features economic development across the state.
