Macon-Bibb leaders participate in emergency training program
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon is one of 10 cities selected to participate in FEMA’s training program, where leaders get a first hand lesson in emergency management.
More than 70 Macon-Bibb County leaders will learn new techniques at a training facility in Emmitsburg, Maryland where they’ll learn how to better handle real-life disasters scenarios, like flooding, plane crashes and tornadoes.
EMA Deputy Director Rodney Roberson says it will give leaders a chance to interact with other EMA directors and leaders from cities across the nation.
“The new consolidated government gets an opportunity to practice what we’re going to do in a real world scenario, or in a real world situation,” Roberson says, “So, I thought it was a great opportunity. The timing couldn’t have been better.”
Leaders plan to attend to event in July 2015.
