Macon-Bibb leaders consider implementing electric buses into transit authority fleet
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon-Bibb County leaders are getting a chance to check out a new way residents can travel around the city.
Macon-Bibb’s Transit Authority is touring a new electric bus that could be implemented into the transit authority’s fleet. As part of the improvements to the Second Street Corridor, leaders originally discussed a “light rail” solution to get residents from point A to point B. They say an electric bus is a more cost-friendly, efficient solution.
“An electric bus system could provide us a way to bring a fixed transit system to the Second Street Corridor sooner than anticipated,” Macon-Bibb Mayor Robert Reichert said in a news release. “…allows us to begin how to expand to other areas of Macon-Bibb.”
