Girls Dig Deeper Week recognizes Macon mentorship program for teen girls
Founder Najiva Timothee says she wants participants to lead themselves well and make sound decisions when facing everyday pressures.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Macon-Bibb County Mayor Lester Miller has proclaimed this week Girls Dig Deeper Week.
A proclamation read Monday recognized the local mentorship program that helps teen girls develop leadership and decision-making skills.
The program, which serves teen girls in local schools, focuses on building leadership skills through problem-solving and personal growth.
Founder Najiva Timothee says her core goal is to prepare young women to lead themselves well and make sound decisions in the face of everyday pressures.
“I want my girls to be leaders,” she said. “I want them to lead themselves well and just be able to make good decisions. There is a lot that gets thrown at these girls every day, so I want to be able to help them make good decisions and make good choices in life.”
Timothee says she hopes Monday’s recognition brings more teens into the program.
