Macon-Bibb Firefighters Deliver Toys to Kids in Hospital

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Santa has some new helpers this year and they spread holiday cheer to children at the hospital.

The Macon-Bibb County fire department teamed up with the Central City number 28 Order of the Eastern Star to deliver gifts to kids at the Children’s Hospital at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. Santa and his helpers delivered 50 presents to kids ranging in age from two months to 17.

Chief Marvin Riggins says its tough for the kids and their families to be in the hospital over the holiday, so they wanted to bring Christmas to them.

“I’m very excited about it. I’m so glad Eastern Star wanted to something like this and we were able to partner with them and make this come to a fruition,” Riggins said. “It’s a nice winter like day and we hope to bring sunshine to some of these kids to make their day a bit brighter.”

The fire department also brought three fire trucks to the hospital so the kids could check them out.
