Macon Bibb firefighters can’t wear Lt. Randy Parker stickers on their helmets

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon-Bibb firefighters want to know why they can’t honor a fallen brother.

A firefighter posted a picture of his helmet with a sticker to honor Lt. Randy Parker to his Facebook page on Tuesday. The post claims firefighters were told they had to take all of the Lt. Parker stickers off their helmets and trucks. Parker died while battling a house fire in February. The post says the firefighters wear stickers to represent their brothers who were lost in the 9/11 attacks. They want to know why they can’t honor the one who worked for them.

The Macon-Bibb fire department policy states only firefighter’s names, initials, and rank are allowed on their helmets. All other lettering, designs or other paraphernalia are prohibited.

Macon-Bibb Fire Chief Marvin Riggins says he’s aware of the issue. A Macon-Bibb county spokesperson adds Chief Riggins is reviewing the policy and working on coming up with a uniform way for all firefighters to honor and remember Lt. Parker.
