Macon-Bibb Fire Department offers firework safety tips
Make sure an adult is in charge. Always wear safety glasses when lighting fireworks. If you think a firework isn’t working the way it should, wait 15 minutes before trying to light it again. Place fireworks in a bucket of water once you’re finished with it. Only buy fireworks from a store or vendor with a license.
“If they’re not a licensed facility, they may have some products that are not legal to be sold within the state. What we would consider black market type products,” said Chris Stephens, the Deputy State Fire Marshall for the State of Georgia.
On January 1, July 3, July 4, and December 31 you can light fireworks from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 a.m. Every other day of the year the hours are 10:00 a.m. until midnight.
